Has it really been nine years? The 9th Red River Songwriters’ Festival scheduled for January 23-25 began as a way to deal with cabin fever by recruiting great songwriters singing exceptional songs to warm the chilly winter night with glorious music from the heart and soul.
Hosting the event in 2020 will be the founders of the festival: Walt Wilkins, Susan Gibson, Josh Grider, Drew Kennedy and Kelley Mickwee. Special guests set to appear will be Kevin Russell, Sean McConnell, and Emily Gimble. Local favorite from the Lost Love Saloon, Mike Addington, will also be appearing.
Kevin, known most for his work with popular Austin-based group Shinyribs, recently sang with Kelley and Alice Spencer for a world-wide TV audience of 1.2 billion people when they performed the National Anthem at the United States Grand Prix in Austin.
Headquarters will be the Motherlode, with a variety of venues around town. Solo shows, duets and collaborations between artists are all a part of the magic.
