Horses have been a part of Red River from the beginning and visitors with a spirit for equine adventure can visit the Red River Stables located at the “Y.” They have some trips to a scenic ranch in the Moreno Valley. Bobcat Pass Adventure Company, located only 3 miles up Highway 38, has guided high country horseback rides as well.
Bobcat Pass is also the home of the famous Cowboy Evenings and is celebrating the 27th year of providing a taste of Southwest and Western culture and cowboy hospitality for all ages. Arrive early and try your hand at steer roping, then prepare for a fantastic chuckwagon dinner with great steak or delicious chicken, cowboy beans and coffee, dutch oven biscuits, and topped off with homemade cinnamon rolls. Wrangler Michael Smith entertains during dinner before award-winning New Mexico singer/songwriter Syd Masters (above) tops off the night with genuine tunes of the Old and New West.
