Art by Melinda Collins

I am an eclectic, eccentric, hermit Mountain Momma. I’m From Virginia but really many different places.

I started painting while I was in therapy wanting to heal from ptsd and lots of built up trauma. It
was a suppressed talent. Putting paint on a pallet and letting spirit take over and see how it
comes out is how I deal with life. Painting to me is expression, emotion, fear, pain, ecstatic joy
and everything in between. Some of my inspiration comes from the masters like Van Gogh,
Monet, Picasso, Georgia Okeefe and my Dad. He is a brilliant architect and artist, a Genius to
be exact although I think his humbleness wouldn’t want me to say that. He has designed
hospitals and engineered lights inside them.

My Dad is where I get any artistic ability as my Mom didn’t do anything creative but was an avid
reader. Painting to me is a way to look deeply into the soul and express it outwardly. I’ve
wanted to give it up a few times but I have a small voice that reminds me that this is a gift and a
talent that was placed on my heart.

Also like to write, draw, pottery, photography, writing poetry when inspired, and a rockhound.
The mountains are a place I’ve called my healing home.
