Cabresto Lake Off-Roading!

In need of an escape?

Suit up your best four-wheel drive vehicle and hit the trails to Cabresto Lake, the picnic-tabled paradise destined for photo ops!

I had the pleasure of visiting Cabresto with some loved ones, an unforgettable experience to say the least. We hopped into our Jeep (his name is Rocky!) and hit the trails. “Hit” meaning a whole lot of bumps and sharp turns. Making sure your vehicle has the capacity for steep and rough terrain is a MUST! My core was definitely sore from keeping myself upright throughout the trek. When we reached the site of the lake itself for lunch, those bumps and jerks were nothing but worth it!

Indulging in my ham and cheese alongside such views made for memories I’ve yet to stop thinking of! As we ate our chips and salsa, even some squirrels wanted to get in on our picnic. Don’t worry, we threw them some Doritos and chunks of bread!

You can keep the fun going on foot, don’t let the adventure cease! Foot-trails branch off from the main site where we found fellow people fishing and lounging out enjoying the views as well. Known for being inhabited by many species of trout, it will no doubt be a haven for anyone fiending for a good catch!

Proceeding to flood my camera roll with albums upon albums of pictures, we decided to head back. It’s a completely different drive going uphill versus downhill. Same ole’ bumps, sure, but you’ve mastered it from earlier.

Not only is there the beautiful 15-acre lake site, but there are campgrounds! If you or someone you know own a camper or even some tents, make it a camping experience at 9,500 feet, now through September!

Blare some music, gather some pals, and check out Cabresto Lake soon!
