Community Spirit: It’s About Caring

“We are so thankful that the Red River Brewing Company & Distillery has such a strong community outreach,” say Kimberly Ritterhouse, Administrator of the Red River Valley Charter School, “and always includes the Charter School when they pick an organization to give back to the community.”

Ritterhouse is referring to the Hops For Happiness February program which recently saw a check for $1,555 given to the Charter School for supplies and materials.

“The teachers are very excited about having more materials and supplies because those things usually come out of the teachers’ pockets.” The Hops For Happiness check is earmarked to cover those costs.

When the lengthy process for establishing a school was in full swing, the Charter School saw individuals and local businesses providing community support, hosting benefits, providing merchandise, food and hosting activities throughout the year. Since the school opened in 2001, Texas Red’s/Motherlode has held fundraiser Christmas dances. Red River Ski Area donated proceeds from ski races. Red River Valley Foundation provided a grant in 2018 and Capo’s Restaurant has hosted a pizza party every May to celebrate the end of the school year. The list of supporters goes on.

The Brewing Company will be raising money in March to help the Enchanted Forest Cross Country Ski Area rebuild and repair yurts and trails destroyed during the recent unprecedented wind event!

The first Hops For Happiness campaign was in September of 2019, and the recipient was… Red River Valley Charter School. Each month a different group is chosen to benefit from the sale of a specified brew of the month. Recipients have included Red River Friends of the Library, Enchanted Circle Regional Fire Protection Association, Enchanted Circle Trails Association and New Mexico Wildlife Center.
