Dally Up

Dally Up Events is the name and owners Jodee Thayer, Shena Cannon and Sponsorship Coordinator Patricia San Roman are happy to talk about current plans and future possibilities.

“It’s a roping term,” says Thayer. “When you’ve dallied up, you’ve wrapped things up. When a cowboy ropes a calf, he dally ups and wraps the rope around the (saddle) horn.

“To us it signifies tidying up and an attention to details and it sort of fits the culture of our area.”

Dally Up is a new company, with its first successful events during Red River’s Oktoberfest this past fall.

The company is involved in event planning and management of corporate retreats, family reunions and vacations, social gatherings, romantic getaways, weddings, and tourist events.

Jodee, Shena and Patsy love the equestrian aspects of Red River, so it’s natural that Dally Up Events is organizing the first Red River Skijoring competition January 15-17, during the weekend of Winter Carnival. (See www.redriverskijoring.com).

In addition to the Skijoring event, they will be involved with some of the Mardi Gras events and Memorial Day, with more events in the planning stages.

A native New Mexican, Jodee (photo L) has lived in Red River for the past five years. She has several years of experience working abroad. Holder of a Master’s Degree in Aeronautical Science, she’s been managing her own business consulting firm from an office in the Miners Building.

Shena (photo R) returned five years ago to Red River to raise her daughters in the town she grew up in as a teenager. Her experience working for the Taos County legal system with judges and lawyers provided her with knowledge of how things are done in the Land of Enchantment. She has been managing the Ponderosa Lodge on Main Street for the past four years.

Patricia – Patsy to her legion of friends – will be coordinating sponsorships and media contacts for the events. A life-long lover of the Land of Enchantment, she knows Red River and northern New Mexico well.
