Do you believe in Bigfoot or are you like many who think they are only a figment of someone’s active imagination? If they do exist, could it be that this elusive creature has been hiding from researchers and media all this time up in Red River, New Mexico? Who would have thought so, but many locals claim to have, over the years, had run-ins with the big guy! Yes, you read that right.
Area resident and author, Todd Michael, was surprised to have many locals suddenly open up to him regarding their own encounters and sightings. Some of these date back to the 1990s and a few are as recent as this year!
Reports of encounters range from strange smells, very large footprints, sounds, stick and rock throwing, to in the flesh, daylight sightings. One woman and her son saw a large white-haired Bigfoot first walking along the edge of the trees on their way home late one night. The next time they made the same trip the same creature seemed to wait for their car to get close before he walked across the road right in front of them and turned to look them straight in the eyes. Other witnesses have had large rocks thrown in their direction to get their attention, only to turn around and see a large Sasquatch staring at them from nearby.
In most cases, the people who have seen them told Michael this is not some animal, but more like a person, possibly even some kind of human.
According to Michael, the confusion about what Bigfoot really looks like can be be summed up by two distinctions which most people are unaware of. First, there are creatures that have a sagital crest on the crown of their skull – such as with a gorilla – and also have dark skin and large primate facial features similar to those of the gorilla. Todd says these are the Sasquatch people. The second category is creatures that do not have the sagital crest on their head and their skin is lighter, more like a Caucasian’s. Their facial features are also in line with that of humans, even to the point that some of them have very little body hair. This version of Bigfoot has been referred to by some experiencers as Ancient Ones. Hair color for both variations ranges from white to silver/grey to brown and black, as well as reddish in hue. For the most part, it is no different than our own human hair color diversity.

Michael has personally seen and interacted with both the Sasquatch and the Ancient Ones, as recently as last summer while traveling through California, Oregon, Washington and Montana. Many of his encounters are included in his book, “Bigfoot: The Four Levels of Contact.” Surprising to many readers will be how he interacted with one elusive creature for a whole week right here in Red River!
