Eddie Wilson came to town in 1996. Joe Bandy arrived in 2002. They love trees. It’s the reason they became wildland firefighters, traveling from Red River to combat wildfires in the American West.

Flatlanders who grew up in Friona, “the Cheeseburger Capital of Texas,” the cousins have turned their love of trees into Wilson Wood Yard. They specialize in tree removal, topping and trimming, lot thinning, wood chipping, stump removal and they cut and sell firewood.

Their newest venture takes them in an artist woodworking direction. After buying a chainsaw mill, they experimented with furniture making.

“We were really playing around and somebody liked it,” says Eddie. The renovation at the Bull O’ The Woods Saloon included new sink counter tops for the restrooms.

The picture below shows Joe (L) and Eddie (R) with an 8 ft. bar/counter top and a living room coffee table from the same tree. All wood used is locally sourced, including pine, spruce, fir and aspen. They prefer to use wood that is aged naturally, drying without artificial enhancement.

“We can cut any thickness up to a foot thick, any length, any tree. If somebody wants something custom built or from their own tree growing in their backyard, we will accommodate them. We made a picnic table for a guy using the tree in his yard.”
