Red River Ski & Summer Area Flying High
According to Guest Services Director Karen Kelly, Red River Ski & Summer Area opens May 23 for the 2015 Summer Season. “This year we are opening for the weekends only until June 12, when we will begin daily operations through September 6. Our Scenic Summer Chair Lift Rides and the Pioneer Flyer, our NEW seated zip line will be operational. The Tip Restaurant will be serving food from 10 am – 4 pm. We will have our Mountain Top 18-hole Disc Golf Course open with rental discs available. All of our summer offerings are weather permitting, so get out early in the day for the best chance of not being able to take advantage of all that RRSA has to offer.
“The Pioneer Flyer started operation during Spring Break 2015. Our guests loved it! You could hear the screams of delight as riders were loaded on to carriers between the two ponds on Pioneer Road. The carriers are pulled up backwards over the pond, across Pioneer Road and up the Face to towers that rise upwards of 70 feet in the air. After a moment to take a good picture of the Town or the Ski Area, riders are released to soar back over the pond at upwards of 35 mph! We have single ride prices, 6 pack or a 10 pack for the family! It is a MUST DO while in Red River this summer!”
Hidden Treasures
Under construction this summer is an aerial ropes challenge course, Hidden Treasures, which will delight guests with an “aerial high five” experience. Designed by Challenge Tours from North Carolina, this course has two levels for the thrill seekers and includes a junior course with a beginner harness zip line. This zip is 400 feet long and will end at the bottom of Little Blue, the magic carpet, which will bring you back to the Hidden Treasure. There is no set opening date at the deadline for this publication, however they do plan to open this summer. Updates will be available on their website at www.redriverskiarea.com or by calling 575-754-2223. They will be selling tickets for all adventures online or by calling reservations.
