Red River Bluegrass Festival

 
The 2nd Annual Red River Bluegrass & Old Time Music Festival, set for September 11-14, will see a great lineup of acoustic talent performing at the Red River Community House.

The festival is produced by the RRCH and is free to the public. Donations will be appreciated. There will be concerts, bluegrass workshops and impromptu jam sessions throughout the event.

Scheduled to appear during the 4-day festival are The Hard Road Trio, The Mic-Chek Band, Bill Hearne Trio, Mystic Lizard, Augusta Road, Triple L Band, the Lost Howlin’ Coyotes, Blue Ridge Entertainers, Ry Taylor and Tim Collver, Jacob and James Quartet, Bobby Giles and Music Mountain, Fritz Davis and Friends, and The Rifters.

The Hard Road Trio from Southern New Mexico will be hosting workshops on Thursday afternoon and Friday morning. With Steve Smith (vocals, mandolin, mandola and guitar) and Chris Sanders (vocals and guitar) and Anne Luna (vocals and bass), their music is described as a Southwestern blend of Roots and Bluegrass.

The Blue Ridge Entertainers, Kris Truelsen and Coleman Akin, are from Johnson City, TN, and represent the grand tradition of Appalachian String Band music. They will be featured three times Friday and Saturday.

The Triple L Band from Portales NM will perform every day during the event. The group describes itself as “Inspirational Gospel Music.”

Also featured will be Red River favorites the Bill Hearne Trio, Fritz Davis & Friends, Ry Taylor & Tim Collver and The Rifters.
