You are invited at the height of winter in the high country to warm your hands and thaw your soul around the cozy fires of creativity as the 5th Ever Red River Songwriters’ Festival is set for January 28-30.
This year’s lineup of great songwriter/singers includes Jim Lauderdale (right), Steve Poltz, Dave Simonett, Walt Wilkins, Susan Gibson, Josh Grider, Brandy Zdan, Drew Kennedy, Kelley Mickwee, Owen Temple, Mike Addington and Jana Pochop.
There may also be a few surprises in store because you never know who might show up to be a part of the fun.
It’s the first trip to Red River for Grammy Award winner Lauderdale who is also the host of the Americana Honors & Awards event in Nashville, and host of a weekly radio broadcast, Music City Roots. His songs have been recorded by George Strait, Ralph Stanley, Gary Allan, Elvis Costello, Blake Shelton, the Dixie Chicks, Vince Gill, and Patty Loveless.
Steve Poltz, whose appearance is part of a Southwest swing, is no stranger to the area, performing at Colfax Tavern three years ago. Dave Simonett is well-known as front man for the bluegrass/folk-rock band Trampled By Turtles.
