The 7th Red River Songwriters Festival is set for January 25-27, 2018, and tickets will be extremely limited but the annual winter icebreaker is well worth the trip, especially if you are a writer always looking to learn.
Organized by songwriter/singer Drew Kennedy, writers include Susan Gibson, Kelley Mickwee, Brandy Zdan, Walt Wilkins, Josh Grider, and Mike Addington.
Special guest writers this year include Darrell Scott (below), Brennen Leigh, Noel McKay, and Ben Danaher.
Scott, who makes his first appearance with the RRSF, has lived in Nashville TN for the last 23 years. He began writing songs at the age of twelve. As you can see by the white beard in the photo, he’s a bit older now and still writing great songs like “You’ll Never Leave Harlan Alive” which was recorded by Brad Paisley for the TV drama Justified.
