Fritz Davis

The Red River Music Scene

Sometimes you can feel the music as it travels through the The Valley, like the river current carries the sound of the wind through its channel.
Sometimes the music is organic, just the simple sound of an acoustic guitar or a mandolin coming from the front porch of the Community House.

Other times it may be an electrifying growl pulsing through the windows of a legendary Red River saloon, a sound designed to make boots and dance shoes skip energetically across a well-worn wooden dance floor.

The music of Red River can be heard in many forms and at a variety of places throughout town and even on the top of Bobcat Pass or The Tip Restaurant.

From the the confines of the giant Big Top tent “down by the riverside” during the Church of Christ Family Encampment in June to the huge covered stage at Brandenburg Park during Larry Joe Taylor’s annual Music Festival and Cook-offs, the strains of music will play a vigorous part in enriching the 2014 Summer of Fun in Red River.

For the 10th season, Fritz Davis and Friends will be appearing every Sunday afternoon at Mountain Treasures Gallery. Mike Addington will be at the Lost Love Saloon in Texas Reds and at the Motherlode Saloon next door. A special CD release party for hONEyhoUSe will occur on June 27 and the fabulous Tejas Brothers will be in town July 8-9 at the Lost Love Saloon.

Black Diamond Grill on the Ski Area (Pioneer) road will have live music on weekends and special occasions, as will Yesterdays Diner on West Main.
Also check out The Tip on the deck at the Red River Ski Area and the Bull O’ The Woods who will have live music from time to time.
